Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Pedagogy
"The use of cultural knowledge, prior experiences frames of reference, and performance styles of ethnically diverse students to make learning encounters more relevant to, and effective for, them" (Gay, 2000 31 in Hollie p.22). This pedagogy teachers to and through the strengths of the students. It is culturally and linguistically validating and affirming.

We believe that becoming a Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Educator starts with the experience of reflecting, learning and talking about race.
Educators will shift the lens through which they look at their classrooms. They will walk away with an awareness of implicit bias, stereotype threat, and CLR strategies while also building capacity for collaboration to improve learning outcomes for all students. All learning opportunities will focus on the development of the educator both personally and professionally.
